The Gallery Gaudens Pedit was opened in 1983 in Vienna then moved to Lienz in 1987. One of the priorities of its programme is to introduce acknowledged Aurtsian artists such as Hans Staudacher, Eva Wagner or Gunter Damisch for whom the gallery organised exhibitions in 2011. These exhibitions were followed by the shows of Jakob Gasteiger, Alois Mosbacher and Hubert Scheibl.
Once a year it holds the ’DolomitenDomine’ exhibition and publication series representing artists from the the East- and South-Tyrolese Dolomit region, with the aim of communicating the interesting aspects of the fine art scene of the gallery’s neighbourhood. Gaudens Pedit represents young artists as well who are featured in art fairs and group exhibitions with acknowledged colleagues. The gallery lists artists such as Imre Bak, József Bartl, László Fehér, Károly Klimó, István Nádler, Nóra Soós and Tamás Trombitás. Since 1990 – when Gaudens Pedit started to build its collection consisting of Hungarian works – it has maintained close relationship with the Hungarian art scene.
With the participation in Art Market Budapest in 2011, the gallery holds a position based on a mutual information-exchange and shows the Austrian and Hungarian artworks of two different generations in contrast of each other. This concept dominated its appearance in the ARTplacc 2012 and Art Market Budapest 2012.
