Since its formation in 1988, DOVIN has taken a central role in the establishment of the local high-quality contemporary art trade as well as in its acknowledgement in international context. The value driving potential of the gallery is guaranteed by its persistent market presence for decades and the consistent realization of highly professional guidelines in its activity. DOVIN both manages established painters belonging to the middle generation along with young sculptors.
The exhibition program in the last decade has been lined up according to thematic and medium-specific aspects: in 2000 the gallery has changed for a profile targeted at painting in general and landscape painting in particular, closing the concept in 2008. The exhibition material has been selected on the basis of the landscape problem in this period. Theoretical lectures also accompanied this exhibition series between 2004 and 2007 in order to present the contemporary interpretations of the notion of landscape in a multidisciplinary manner. From the autumn 2008 Dovin iniciated a new stage focusing exclusively on the “new wave” figurative trends of the contemporary Hungarian sculpture (Gergő KOVÁCH, Barna PÉLI, Norbert KOTORMÁN, Karolina NAGY, Lili CSEH, Balázs DURONELLY). Dovin organizes 6 exhibitions per year, publishes catalogues, and regularly participates at national and international art fairs (ART FAIR BUDAPEST, ARTE LISBOA, ARCO MADRID, ART COLOGNE, ART PARIS).
